7 - Birds are my friends ^^

Prompt: Some people say "Birds of a feather flock together", and others say "Opposites attract". When you look at your friends, which seems to be true for you? Compare your best friend (or friends) with yourself. How are you alike or different? You can compare any areas of your life.

In France when we see people together (a couple, or some friends), we usually say: "Who are alike assemble", but we also sometimes say "The opposites attract" (exactly the same as in English). It depends on the context. I would say that relationship can not be 100% one or the other. You need a balance between them.

I think that people who are completely different can not be good friends. How can it be possible if they do not have the same kind of humor; if they do not like the same kind of activities; if they do not belong to the same world? Friends and boy/girlfriends need to enjoy something that they like doing and talking about together. People who are completely different may have some troubles to communicate.

Nevertheless, friends should be different in some ways. Relationships can become boring if people always agree and never have disputes and quarrels. It is sometimes enjoyable to argue about topics on which everyone does not have the same opinion. To be different can bring new aspects and points of view on topics that we would not think about; that opens everyone's mind.

My friends are alike me: "Birds of a feather flock together". We like hanging out together, eating the same kind of food, listening to the same kind of music, going to the theater to watch the same kind of movies. We laugh at the same kind of jokes, and I do really think that humor link people.

Concerning couple relationships, I think that the expression "Opposites attract" fits a bit better than for simple friends. Some differences can enrich a relationship. Personally, I hope to find someone who is alike me for my qualities, but unlike me for my defects!

Anyway, nothing is never all white or all black, things should be well-balanced.

  1. I see a big difference between you and your friends in that picture. Can you see it? You're wearing flip flops! It is like you were destined to come to California. :-)

  2. Maybe just because they were Flora's guests, they wore shoes instead of slippers.
